Sonny Rhodes, Heather Hardy to perform in Lewes
Two nationally touring jazz and blues artists, the legendary Disciple of the Blues Sonny Rhodes and the incomparable electric blues violinist Heather "Lil' Mama" Hardy, will be the featured musicians for the first annual Blues on Tour Weekend to occur Friday and Saturday, July 15 and 16, as part of the Sydney's Music Revival Series at Bethany Blues in Lewes.
This event is a fundraiser for the nonprofit 501c3 organization Delaware Charitable Music Inc. Both of these dynamic performances begin at 8:30 p.m. Tickets are available for each show individually for $10 or $15 for both and may be purchased by calling Bethany Blues Lewes at 302-644-2500.
Now living in California, Sonny Rhodes is the known as the real deal on the blues circuit. He recently won the coveted title of Best Blues Instrumentalist at the annual 2011 Blues Awards in Memphis for his amazing talent on the lap steel guitar. He is the self-proclaimed Disciple of the Blues because of his long and rich history of playing and singing for devoted fans around the world.
Heather "Lil' Mama" Hardy returns to Delaware for the first time in almost eight years from her home base in Arizona. According to Sound Waves Magazine, Hardy becomes a "penetrating presence that soothes the soul" on stage. She was discovered and mentored by famed bluesman Sam Taylor until his death in 2009, and her prowess as a blues violinist and vocalist has received national acclaim.
Regionally famed jazz and blues impresario, founder of Sydney's Music Revival and board member of Delaware Charitable Music Inc., Sydney Arzt is thrilled to be involved in bringing these two internationally acclaimed artists to Bethany Blues Lewes.
"Not only are these two exciting and absolutely astounding performers, but the money raised provides an opportunity for the public to support the organization with an important educational mission. DCM presents international touring musicians in clinic and concert performances in schools throughout Delaware in order to encourage and motivate the future generation of musicians," said Arzt.
