Southeastern Delaware Artists Studio Tour returns Nov. 9-10

October 26, 2024

The free, self-guided 28th Annual Southeastern Delaware Artists Studio Tour will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 9 and 10.

Tour attendees may choose to visit any or all the working studios of 13 locally, regionally and internationally collected fine artists and artisans working in the fields of oil, pastel, watercolor and acrylic painting; textiles; glass blowing; jewelry making; ceramics; and wood turning.

Artists are Mary Yeagley Bower, ceramics; Travis Bower, wood; Susan Callahan, textiles; Sabie Carey, pottery; Jennifer Carter, watercolor and oil; Justin Cavagnaro, glass; Kim Cavagnaro, jewelry; Jan Crooker, paintings; John Donato, paintings; Laura Hickman, pastels; Mimi Pickrell, ceramics; Dawn Pierro, jewelry; and Ellen Rice, oils, pastels and drawings.

The Art in the Hat Raffle, which raises funds for local school arts programs, has been renamed the Pat and Tom Frey Memorial Art in the Hat Raffle. The raffle prizes are works of art donated by each of the tour artists. Pat and Tom Frey, who both were instrumental in the tour’s long-running success, passed away within nine months of each other since the last SEDAST tour. Tom Frey was a multiple award-winning, nationally recognized master woodturner and founding member of SEDAST. Pat, his wife of 61 years, coordinated and directed the tour for many years. Both contributed significantly to the tour and are greatly missed, said Travis Bower, tour director and woodturner.

This year’s raffle creations include paintings and prints in multiple styles from realism to abstract, along with ceramics, blown glass, handmade jewelry and wood turning.

SEDAST is a 501c charity, and every penny the Pat and Tom Frey Memorial Art in the Hat Raffle rings in goes directly to fill requests from local school art teachers. Tickets are $5 each or five for $20 and can be purchased at each of the studios during the tour.

Through the end of October, donated works of art for raffle can be viewed in person at Su Casa in Ocean View.
