Special Olympics Delaware completed its 2019 three-day, two-night sports camp at Camp Barnes near Bethany Beach Aug. 3-5, where more than 80 campers and 40 counselors enjoyed sports training and traditional camp activities in a relaxed atmosphere. It was the 19th summer for the camp.
The camp is offered to all registered Special Olympics Delaware athletes, and it is one of the most anticipated events of the year for SODE athletes of all ages and abilities. Campers travel from all areas of the state to attend, and they enjoy the opportunity to reacquaint with old friends and meet new friends during their camp experience.
The camp features plenty of ways for attendees to enjoy recreational and camp-type activities including swimming in the pool, arts and crafts, and noncompetitive games. In addition, campers can participate in a variety of traditional Special Olympics sports throughout the three days.
