February 2, 2026

By unanimous appointment, Springboard Delaware welcomed Bill Nieto Jr. to its board of directors in January.

His appointment strengthens Springboard’s leadership as the organization continues its mission to provide low-barrier shelter, navigation services and pathways to housing for individuals experiencing homelessness.

Nieto is a retired United States Navy captain with decades of leadership in public service and community-based work. During his Navy and Navy Reserve career, he served in roles including division officer, department head, executive officer and commanding officer, with additional service supporting senior Navy leadership in Washington, D.C.

Following his military service, Nieto held civilian leadership roles with the federal government, including drug enforcement program manager with the commander, Navy Installations Command, coordinating drug and alcohol prevention efforts across 12 regions, 85 commands and 55,000 personnel worldwide. He also served with the National Park Service, National Capital Region, as a Hispanic employment program manager and equal employment opportunity officer, supporting workforce diversification and community engagement.

Locally, Nieto has supported Sussex County Habitat for Humanity, helping manage home construction projects and volunteer teams.
