St. Peter’s to host spring plant sale June 9

June 5, 2019

St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Lewes will hold a public plant sale from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m., Sunday, June 9. One of the oldest churches in America, St. Peter’s is surrounded by churchyard gardens filling an entire city block on Second Street in downtown historic Lewes. They include a meditation garden, a shady resting garden, a prayerful labyrinth and a host of flowering plants and trees among a historic cemetery setting. All of this provides a beautiful, welcoming, year-round resting spot for visitors and congregation members.

Proceeds from this plant sale will fund new projects and enhance existing displays during the year. Past plant sales have funded the meditation garden, shade garden and spring bulb display. The church depends on donations from the many talented gardeners in the congregation to provide the plants for sale. There are annuals, vegetables, fruits, herbs, perennials, shrubs, ornamentals and bulbs to be found among the many donations .

There will also be a garden boutique for all those wonderful non-plant items gardeners love so dearly. Shoppers can expect to find books, garden ornaments, decorative pots, custom-made birdhouses, garden tools and other garden-themed material.
