St. Peter’s plant sale set May 20 in Lewes

Event is free and open to the public
May 17, 2018

St. Peter's Episcopal Church will hold its Annual Spring Plant Sale from 8:30 a.m. to noon, Sunday, May 20 in the church courtyard at 211 Mulberry St., Lewes. This event is open to the public. Back by popular demand will be the Garden Boutique for those wonderful non-plant items that gardeners love so dearly. Shoppers can expect to find books, garden ornaments, decorative pots, custom-made birdhouses, garden tools and other garden-themed material.

Proceeds from the plant sale will fund new projects and enhance existing displays during the year. Past sales have funded the meditation garden, shade garden, and spring bulb display. The church depends on contributions from the many talented gardeners in the congregation to provide the vast variety plants for sale. In the past, there have been annuals, vegetables, fruits, herbs, perennials, shrubs, ornamentals, and bulbs among the many donations.

St. Peter's is one of the oldest churches in America; it is located at the corner of Second and Market streets in downtown historic Lewes. This lovely house of worship is surrounded by churchyard gardens filling an entire city block, known as St. Peter's Square. They include a meditation garden, shady resting garden, prayerful labyrinth, and a host of flowering plants and trees scattered within its historic cemetery. All of this provides a beautiful, year-round welcoming spot for visitors and members of the congregation.
