Stand up for the Bays paddle race registration due June 2

May 24, 2023

The Delaware Center for the Inland Bays and Chesupeake, a paddleboard training and race organization, announced the Stand Up for the Bays Paddle Race & Fest will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, June 3, at Holts Landing State Park east of Dagsboro.

This event promises attendees an adventure-filled day of paddle fun, live music, tasty food and a CIB information booth, while helping raise funds to restore, protect and preserve Delaware’s Inland Bays.

Stand Up for the Bays features four different paddle courses along the Indian River Bay, starting and finishing at Holts Landing. Participants of all ages and abilities can join in the fun, with categories for stand-up paddleboards, surfski, sea kayaks (13-feet and up only), OC1 and OC2. There's also a recreational paddle option for those who prefer a more leisurely pace.

Registered racers and paddlers will receive an event T-shirt, one post-paddle beverage and some tasty post-paddle grub. In addition, there will be live music from the Homestead Bluegrass Band, food from Taco Reho and Bountiful Bowls, cold beverages from Dewey Beer Company, and lots of environmental education and raffles.

"We are thrilled to partner with Chesupeake to bring this fun-filled event to the community," said Mark Carter, Delaware Center for the Inland Bays director of development. "Stand Up for the Bays is a great way to get outdoors, enjoy our beautiful Inland Bays, and support our mission to protect and preserve these precious resources."

Registration closes Friday, June 2. To sign up, go to inlandbays.org.
