The Starboard reopening weekend celebration set March 16-19
The Starboard’s reopening weekend will kick off the Dewey Beach tourist season and celebrate St. Patrick’s Day from Thursday to Sunday, March 16 to 19. The parking lot will be enclosed by a heated tent featuring live entertainment.
“Opening weekend is always a really fun way to reopen the town, and so many businesses come to life that weekend,” said owner Steve “Monty” Montgomery.
Irish Latin rock band La Unica will play at 9 p.m., March 16. Starboard DJs will rock St. Patrick’s Day all day long Friday, March 17. Kristen & The Noise will play at 2 p.m., Saturday, March 18, and Mr. Greengenes' Bryen Boyle will perform at 2 p.m, Sunday, March 19.
In a new twist last year, The Starboard offered its coveted VIP cards in exchange for at least a $5 donation to the Rehoboth Beach Volunteer Fire Company. Last year over $30,000 was raised for the fire company.
"It was either the smartest or the dumbest move ever. Smartest that our loyal patrons are willing to give a couple of bucks for us to help our local fire company, who take such great care of this area, or the dumbest in that I didn't think to do this 20 years ago – think how much we could have raised for them by now,” said Montgomery.
