Sussex Academy swim teams win tri-meet

The Sussex Academy swim teams moved to 6-0 Jan. 6 with tri-meet wins over Seaford and Nandua High School of Virginia.

The Seahawks girls’ squad defeated Seaford 79-15 and Nandua 63-31. The boys’ squad defeated the Blue Jays 81-13 and Nandua 75-19.

The Seahawks host Caesar Rodney Tuesday, Jan. 10.

Seahawks junior Gracie Maughan wins the individual medley with a time of 2:14.15.
Seahawks senior Sanne Elling wins the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:05.35.
Seahawks junior Brayden Trout wins the 100 butterfly in 58.64.
Sussex Academy freshman Christian Wright wins the 50 freestyle with a time of 24.66.
Seahawks freshman Kimia Langroudi swims the individual medley.

Dan has worked for the Cape Gazette for more than 30 years as a photographer and reporter, covering high school sports and happenings around eastern Sussex County. He won a photography award from the National Newspaper Association, and numerous awards from the Maryland, Delaware, D.C. Press Association. A Delaware native, Dan graduated from Cape in 1972 and returned as a teacher and coach in the 1980s. He retired from the classroom in 2016. He was inducted into Cape High’s Legends Stadium in 2016. In his spare time, Dan enjoys spending time with his wife, two sons, grandchildren and dogs.
