Sussex Central Drama Club to present ‘Misery’ Oct. 28-29

October 20, 2022

Take Two Drama Club of Sussex Central High School members are proud to be the first group in Delaware to present the Broadway adaptation of Stephen King’s “Misery” by William Goldman, the screenwriter for the motion picture version of the novel.

“Misery” performances are set for 7 p.m., Friday, Oct. 28, and 2 and 7 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 29, at the Premiere Centre for the Arts at Sussex Central High School, 26026 Patriots Way, Georgetown.

Presented by special permission of Dramatists Play Service, the play follows the story of successful romance novelist Paul Sheldon, who is rescued from a car crash by his “No. 1 Fan,” Annie Wilkes, and wakes up captive in her secluded home.

Take Two Adviser David Warick advises that this show is for mature audiences only; it features adult language and themes, as well as portrayals of physical violence. Those sensitive to such material should not attend.

“The play is part of our senior showcase series in which talented seniors get their own show to present before graduation,” Warick said.

“In this case, I have three gifted performers – seniors Jonathan Brittingham, Katey Megginson and Daykhi Conquest – taking on the difficult roles in this terrifying thriller. We are doing the show to give a unique experience for our audiences in the Halloween season, and to provide an acting and production challenge for our drama club,” he said.

Tickets are $15 and can be purchased online at onthestage.tickets/take-two-drama-club-of-sussex-central-high-school or at the Take Two Drama Club of Sussex Central High School’s Instagram and Facebook pages. Tickets will also be available at the door.
