Sussex Tech adult ed program, educator honored at statewide summit

During the recent Delaware Association for Adult Community Education Summit, Chanteea Harmon of Sussex Tech was announced as the DAACE Staff Member of the Year.

A 2014 James H. Groves Adult High School graduate, Harmon has worked at Sussex Tech Adult Education as a paraprofessional and is currently an administrative assistant for the driver's ed program. She also serves as the Sussex Tech representative to the Organization of Adult Alumni and Students in Service, where she has held statewide leadership roles. After completing her bachelor's degree this spring, Harmon plans to teach in the Sussex Tech Adult Education GED program.

Sussex Tech Adult Education's Adult Basic Education program was named Program of the Year. Sussex Tech Adult Education houses the largest ABE program in the state and consistently meets or exceeds all state and federal outcomes goals each year.

“It is an honor to be recognized as the Adult Basic Education Program of the Year,” said Kelly Whaley, director of Sussex Tech Adult Education. “This distinction reflects the passion and commitment of our staff, who are dedicated to supporting lifelong learning. We will continue to provide high-quality educational opportunities to empower individuals and transform communities.
