Sussex Tech students assist with tree-planting project

March 20, 2025

Sussex Technical High School students in the landscape management and environmental technologies program recently assisted with a Delaware State Parks tree-planting project on property managed by Trap Pond State Park.

Serving alongside volunteers from AmeriCorps, the 21 LMET students helped plant more than 800 native trees on the property. Each bare-root tree sapling received a locally harvested bamboo stake for support as well as a protective sleeve to prevent grazing by wildlife. The project is intended to help curb erosion issues on the existing agricultural field.
