A Lewes connection to colonial era chocolate. In 1798 the English sloop De Braak boarded and captured a Spanish ship, which contained a cargo of cocoa beans. The Lewes Historical Society Valentine's Day Antiques & Collectibles Sale and Historic Chocolate Making Demonstration was a big hit on two of the coldest days of the year, Feb. 13-14.
The Antiques and Collectibles Sale featured a selection of small furniture, collectibles, dish ware, jewelry and holiday decor.
In the schoolhouse a historic American Heritage Chocolate Demonstration and Tasting was held with LHS volunteer interpreters in historic garb. Samples were given by a team of Mars Chocolate Ambassadors.
