There are ways to reduce litter in Delaware

June 7, 2019

After reading about litter, including bottles, cans, etc. along roads, the powers that are should look into a deposit law that is in effect in some other states. Glass or plastic bottles as well as cans have a 5-cent refund where they are usually fed into machines at local supermarkets, beer, wine, liquor outlets etc.

When you feed same into these machines where they are ground up for recycling you get a receipt slip, go in the store and get your refund. In these states you now rarely see bottles, cans, etc. on the ground.

Also since there are many new housing developments being built in Delaware, again the powers that are should look into requiring new developments to require all houses have solar panels on their roofs as they are being built. I would think the cost would be substantially less than having it done later by the homeowner.

This is being required in some other states, and it would a great savings on individual energy costs for the homeowner as well as the ever-increasing demands on our power suppliers.
