Thornburg leads boys' basketball past Bucs 49-45
Ryan Thornburg hit five of eight three-pointers and scored 19 total points to lead the Cape Henlopen boys' basketball team past the Bucs 49-45 Dec. 11 at Milford.
"Ryan needed to score," said Cape coach Steve Re. "And he did against Milford."
Thornburg dropped two free throws in the final 3 seconds to seal the game for the Vikings.
Cape also needed to get the ball inside against the Bucs.
"David [Kwan] had a real good game," said Re. "He was big inside and started some fast breaks. He and Jordan [Howell] played well in the paint."
Re was quick to praise the play of his back court players. Kyle Orton hit a three-pointer for the Vikings, and Demetrius Price scored six from the field.
"Kyle plays with intensity," said Re. "He won't show up too much on the box score, but he is an intangible. He plays so hard. Demetrius Price did a great job."
Cape travels to Woodside Thursday, Dec. 18, for a northern division matchup with Polytech.
