Tony Lee Hudson, jack of all trades
Tony Lee Hudson, a friend to all, of Georgetown, passed away peacefully Saturday, Jan. 10, 2026, in his home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Salisbury, Md., to the late George Hudson and Delores (Kissinger) Welch.
From nothing but borrowing $500 from a friend, Tony opened his own reputable business in 1986, known as Tony Hudson’s Garage. His business was a reflection of his integrity, skill and pride in doing things the right way. His journey was never easy, but it was honest, and it became a source of inspiration to everyone who knew him. He was widely respected for his skill in rebuilding automatic transmissions. What he built was more than a business; it was a legacy of resilience, dedication, and earned trust. His hands were rarely still, and his dedication to his craft was matched only by his willingness to help others. He was the kind of man who would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need, never hesitating to lend a hand, share his time, or offer his support.
Outside of work, Tony embraced life with enthusiasm. He had a lifelong love of softball and proudly ran his own team for many years, building not just a roster of players but lasting friendships. He cherished the outdoors – spending time fishing, hunting, skiing, and enjoying his days at the beach. Some of the happiest memories were made during the many summers he spent in Chincoteague, a place that held a special spot in his heart.
Music was another great passion. Tony loved listening to music and playing the drums, and some of his favorite moments were spent late into the night, sitting in his garage, listening to his son and friends play live music. Those evenings were filled with laughter, rhythm, and the simple joy of being together.
Above all, Tony knew no stranger and loved hard. His presence was steady, his laughter genuine, and his generosity boundless. He will be remembered not only for what he did, but for who he was and the countless lives he touched.
Tony is survived by his loving mother, Delores Welch; his beloved son, Chad (Nina) Hudson; and his sisters, Terry (Brian) Komlo, and Tammy (Mark) Tisher. Tony was blessed with three grandchildren, Capri and Jonah Hudson, and Izabella Martinez. He is also survived by his nieces, whom he loved dearly.
Tony was preceded in death by his father, George, and his brothers Steve and Robert.
A funeral service will be held at noon, Saturday, Jan. 17, at Short Funeral Services Inc. sanctuary, 609 E. Market St., Georgetown, where friends and family may visit beginning at 10 a.m. Interment will be in St. John’s Church Cemetery, Springfield Crossroads, Georgetown. Pastor Duane Smith will be officiating.
