Top of the Pines drag show benefits local animals in need

Humane Animal Partners receives $2,300 donation
May 24, 2023

Humane Animal Partners, formerly Delaware Humane Association and Delaware SPCA, recently received a donation in the amount of $2,300 from The Pines in Rehoboth Beach. The funds will directly support HAP animal adoption and low-cost pet retention services.

Top of the Pines regularly hosts live entertainment including the Friday Follies Drag Show, which benefited HAP. This special fundraising event was made possible through Top of the Pines, Kristina Kelly and Jerry Delair of OutLoud Sports. Drag performers of all backgrounds, from amateurs to professionals, signed up due to their love of animals.

Humane Animal Partners is a statewide animal welfare organization with adoption centers in Rehoboth Beach, Wilmington and Stanton/Christiana. In addition to pet adoption, it also provides a variety of pet retention programs and services including low-cost vaccination clinics, spay/neuter, wellness exams, free pet food pantries and more.

“We are so touched by the generosity of The Pines and all of the performers who came out to support HAP animals in need,” said Leigh McKinley, HAP Rehoboth Beach center director. “Support from local businesses such as The Pines allows us to find homes for pets and support the arts, all while cross-promoting each other throughout the community. It’s a win-win situation for all!”

All Humane Animal Partners animals are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, tested for heartworm (dogs) or FeLV/FIV (cats), microchipped and examined by a veterinarian. To volunteer, donate, browse all currently available animals and fill out an online adoption questionnaire prior to visiting, go to humaneanimalpartners.org.
