Trail work moving fast along Cape Henlopen Drive

December 27, 2018

Work to add a mile-long multi-use trail on the former railroad bed parallel to Cape Henlopen Drive in Lewes is moving ahead quickly.

Nearly the entire length of the Cape-Lewes Trail is prepped and ready for paving, said C.R. McLeod, Department of Transportation director of community relations. The new path will run from the entrance of Cape Henlopen State Park across Freeman Highway to American Legion Road.

The project, costing an estimated $1 million, is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
