The Rehoboth Art League will present two exhibitions on view from Friday, May 8 to Sunday, June 7. Mapping the Liminality – East and West: Work from the Han-Mee Artists Association of Greater Washington will be featured in the Corkran and Tubbs galleries, and Between the Lines and Beyond the Frame – Work by Dolores Andrew will be on display in the Homestead. The art league will host an opening reception from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, May 8.
The Mapping the Liminality exhibit celebrates the vibrant experiences and creativity of Korean American artists in the Washington, D.C. area. Founded in 1975, the Han-Mee Artists Association of Greater Washington has devoted itself to preserving cultural heritage while championing diversity and visibility in the broader art world. This exhibition brings together artists whose work explores themes of identity, transformation and belonging, presenting liminality as a dynamic space where different cultures and histories intersect, overlap and flourish.
Between the Lines and Beyond the Frame is an exhibition showcasing the wide-ranging artistic practice of Dolores Andrew, whose work spans fine and decorative arts, and reflects a lifelong commitment to making, teaching and serving the arts community. Andrew is a graduate of Syracuse University and the Maryland Institute College of Art, and her career encompasses decades of studio work, exhibition and leadership, from her long tenure as an art educator and juror to her deep involvement with the Rehoboth Art League, the Maryland Pastel Society and multiple miniature art societies. This exhibition brings together works that reveal Andrew’s sensitivity to scale, craft and observation, presenting her art as a thoughtful, evolving dialogue between precision and expression developed over a distinguished and influential career.
The exhibitions and opening reception are free and open to the public. Learn more at rehobothartleague.org.
