Two Papa Grande's Coastal Taqueria restaurants to open decks on Cinco de Mayo

May 3, 2017

Many people view Memorial Day as the start of the summer season. That's not the case at Papa Grande's Coastal Taqueria, which has locations in Rehoboth Beach and Fenwick Island. For these Latin-themed restaurants, Cinco de Mayo, Friday, May 5, is the salute to the upcoming season.

Both restaurants will officially open their decks and offer specials.

Cinco de Mayo celebrates the Mexican militia's triumph over the French army at the Battle of Puebla in 1862. At the beach, it's yet another reason to raise a Corona or an icy Margarita and dive into tacos.

"This is the time of year when guests, restaurant workers and tourists start to flood the resort towns," said Scott Kammerer, president of SoDel Concepts, which owns the Papa Grande's restaurants and seven others. (A 10th, Bluecoast Seafood Grill & Raw Bar, will open in Rehoboth in June.) "Cinco de Mayo gives us a chance to welcome everyone back and open the decks for the season."

Specials include $3 fish and pork tacos, $6 nachos, $5 house Margaritas, $2 Tecate in cans and $3 Hornitos lime tequila shots.
