Delmarva Christian High School’s cafeteria transformed into Victorian London Dec. 13 for an interactive Jekyll & Hyde party to wrap up study of Robert Louis Stevenson’s 1886 gothic novella.
English teacher Kelley Ridley said seniors researched Victorian society, dressed in period costume and created displays exploring themes in the book and issues of the era.
During the party, London’s poor clashed with the elite, detectives hunted for clues in a man’s murder, doctors bled patients to save them and scientists explored electroshock therapy.
About every 15 minutes, a gong sounded and students lined up to perform a dance number to Michael Jackson’s “Thriller,” which Ridley said was used to portray Jekyll’s alteration into Hyde.
