Local businesses participating in the Rehoboth Beach-Dewey Beach Chamber of Commerce’s Scarecrow Show & Trail have begun to display their designs.

The trail was created last year as a way for the chamber to promote member businesses during a period when many COVID-related restrictions were still in place. During a general membership meeting Sept. 14, chamber CEO & President Carol Everhart said the trail was a success last year, so they decided to bring it back.

According to the chamber website, as of Sept. 22, there are 15 contestants including both chamber buildings on Rehoboth Avenue, The Point Coffee House & Bake Shoppe, Victoria’s Restaurant, Hyatt Place Dewey Beach, Pelican Loft, Rehoboth Guest House, Virtua Home Technologies, Sylvan Learning Center, Renove Med Spa, RE/Max Realty Group, Clear Space Theatre Company, Beach House Dewey Hotel, Rigby’s Bar & Grill, and Crosswinds Motel.

This is likely not the finalized list of participants, since businesses can enter through Friday, Oct. 15. A list of participating businesses with addresses is available online or in person at the chamber’s administrative office, 306 Rehoboth Ave., and the chamber’s Visitors Center, 501 Rehoboth Ave. The list will be updated regularly as participants register.

Votes (one per person) can be submitted through Monday, Nov. 1, on the chamber website below or by paper ballot available at 306 Rehoboth Ave. The top 10 voted scarecrows will receive a Sea Witch memorabilia package from the chamber, with the winner getting a trophy.

Businesses interested in entering the contest may contact Event Coordinator Kate VanVorst at events@beach-fun.com or register online at beach-fun.com through Friday, Oct. 15. For more information, call the Rehoboth-Dewey chamber at 302-227-6446 or go to beach-fun.com.
