Walter S. Angielski, accountant, businessman
Walter Stanley Angielski, 77, of Lewes, passed away Friday, Jan. 15, 2016, at Beebe Healthcare in Lewes. He was born March 13, 1938, in Plymouth, Pa., son of the late Stanley and Kathryn Angielski.
Mr. Angielski received his bachelor of science degree in commerce and finance from Wilkes University in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. He continued his education by receiving his master of business administration degree from Seton Hall University in South Orange, N.J.
Mr. Angielski began his career as an accountant working for Warner-Lambert from 1960-63. He went on to hold senior management positions in operations, finance and marketing for the Quaker/Burry-LU Biscuit Company and Interbake Foods companies for 28 years. From 1994 to 2004, Mr. Angielski became proud owner of AlphaGraphics Print Shop Franchise. He and his wife, Barbara, retired to the Lewes area in 2004 to enjoy the beach and spend time with his family.
From 1979-82 Mr. Angielski served as a chairman on the board of directors for Elizabeth General Hospital. He was elected for three years as president at the YMCA of Eastern Union County and also served on their board of directors from 1983-84. He was a member of the East Brunswick, N.J. Regional Chamber of Commerce from 1997-98.
Mr. Angielski was an avid sports enthusiast having coached many of his sons’ Little League baseball and basketball teams. He also offered his time as a mentor for kids in need in his local communities in New Jersey and Delaware. During his leisure time in retirement, he loved going to the beach and playing poker with his friends and neighbors.
Mr. Angielski cherished spending time with his grandchildren. He will be remembered for being a wonderful father, grandfather, and husband, and will be missed more than words can say.
Mr. Angielski is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Barbara Angielski; three sons: Brian Angielski and his wife Stephany of Hudson, Ohio, Jeffrey Angielski and his wife Shannon of Alexandria, Va., and Mark Angielski of Parkville, Md.; five grandchildren: Taylor and Carson Angielski, Sasha, and twins Margaret and Eleanor Angielski.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, Jan. 20, at 11 a.m., at St. Jude The Apostle Catholic Church, 152 Tulip Drive, Lewes, where friends may visit beginning at 10 a.m. Interment will be private.
Memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Angielski's memory to the Sussex County Parkinson’s Education and Support Group, 17000 Black Marlin Circle, Lewes, DE 19958.
