Week 37: State set to get first Moderna vaccines

December 23, 2020

The first 3,000 doses of Pfizer vaccine were administered to healthcare workers in Delaware. On Monday, Dec. 28, vaccine shots will begin at long-term care facilities.

This week, the first Moderna vaccine is expected to arrive with 16,700 doses anticipated; another 2,924 doses of the Pfizer vaccine are also scheduled to be delivered to the state.

Those taking the Moderna vaccine will need another shot in 28 days, while those taking the Pfizer vaccine will need a follow-up shot in 17 to 21 days.

State health officials have created a call center for vaccine information at 302-672-6150.

Restrictions hurting restaurants

Cape Region restaurants have felt the effects of restrictions imposed by the state of emergency for nine months. Now, with 30 percent occupancy and a curfew of 10 p.m., restaurants and bars are being challenged to keep their doors open. Many smaller restaurants have switched to takeout only.

The holiday season, and particularly New Year’s Eve, have been a major drawing card for local restaurants, but this year will be like no other.
