William ‘Bill’ Olivia honored distinguished service to library

Friends of the Lewes Public Library present award June 14
June 30, 2022

Bill Olivia became a member of the Friends of the Lewes Public Library Board of Directors Dec. 18, 2013, bringing his expertise as a certified public accountant and an engineer to the position of treasurer. Olivia has been a major contributor to the financial growth and health of the organization and the Lewes Public Library, helping to more than double the funds the Friends has raised during his tenure.

During a meeting June 14, the Friends board presented Olivia with the Florence Coltman Award for Distinguished Service. The board says his unwavering dedication to financial management and recordkeeping has elevated every aspect of its fiscal management. Olivia is personally responsible for managing the significant increase in funding the Friends has experienced during the last decade.

Lewes Councilwoman Candace Vessella, who chairs the Friends board, presented Olivia with the award, a plaque and a special gift on behalf of the board.
