Wings of Hope butterfly release set June 24 in Milton

Event honors lives impacted by cancer

Wings of Hope: A Butterfly Release to benefit Cancer Support Community Delaware will begin at 9 a.m., Saturday, June 24, at Milton Memorial Park, 115 Federal St., Milton.

Presented by Incyte, the event is highlighted by a 10:30 a.m. ceremony and release of butterflies in recognition of family, friends and neighbors throughout Sussex County whose lives have been impacted by cancer.

Wings of Hope is a free, family-friendly, rain or shine event. Open to the public, it will feature live performances, vendors, chance and 50/50 raffles, plant and bake sales, and lots of fun activities for kids. The highlight of the day will be the reading of the 2023 honorees’ names, followed by the release of hundreds of beautiful painted lady butterflies. Live butterflies, event T-shirts and raffle tickets are available for pre-purchase at cancersupportdelaware.org.

The public is also invited to dine to donate at Irish Eyes in Milton from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., June 24. Those who mention they are there to support Wings of Hope will have 10% of their bill amount donated to Cancer Support Community Delaware. Event volunteers are still needed. Cancer Support Community Delaware is a statewide nonprofit organization dedicated to helping individuals affected by any type of cancer, including their caregivers and family members, manage both the emotional and physical aspects of the cancer journey. All programs are offered at no charge to participants.
