Worcester Prep food drive benefits local nonprofit groups

Worcester Preparatory School’s Student Government Association sponsored its annual holiday food drive in November and December.

The WPS Upper School community came together Dec. 18 to sort and prepare donations of canned goods and other nonperishable items recently collected by WPS students for distribution to local nonprofit organizations. Students also contributed $5 each to help purchase meat for holiday dinners.

Benefitting organizations are: Seaford Community Food Closet, Seaford; Helping Hands Food Bank, Frankford; and in Maryland, Atlantic United Methodist Church, Ocean City; HALO, Salisbury; Diakonia Inc., Ocean City; Sonrise Church, Berlin; The Joseph House, Salisbury; Stevenson United Methodist Church Spirit Kitchen, Berlin; St. Paul’s by the Sea Episcopal Church, Ocean City; and Berlin First Baptist Church, Berlin.

Organizers extend thanks to all students, families and faculty for their continued generosity and commitment to service within the community.
