From Taco Tuesday specials to fresh steak and red snapper, Zoca, a new restaurant in Bethany Beach, takes a new twist on authentic Mexican cuisine.

A sister restaurant to Harvest Tide Steakhouse in Lewes, Zoca is focused on bringing fresh ingredients and a neighborhood atmosphere to the beach. All of the dishes are locally sourced and look to change the way one thinks about Mexican food.

On Nov. 14. Zoca held its official ribbon cutting and Locals Appreciation Day, giving visitors a taste of the menu with live music. Bethany-Fenwick Area Chamber of Commerce was also there to commemorate the official opening.

Chef-owner of both Zoca and Harvest Tide Steakhouse, Danio Somoza, spoke of the inspiration behind the new eatery. He said, “We’re from El Salvador, and we eat so fresh and healthy there. That was the idea behind creating a Mexican restaurant. We wanted to go really fresh and create a true Ameri-Mexican restaurant, not Tex-Mex. All of the ingredients are fresh and we make everything in house.”

The menu contains daily specials, vegetarian options, and unique cocktails, all with an emphasis on being family-friendly. Somoza has taken the time to craft a menu that hits all of the Mexican staples, but also brings new flavors to the table.
