And the Father of the Year award goes to...
March 14, 2013
Good parents will do anything that makes their kids happy. Mike Mika's three-year-old daughter, Ellis, was upset when she found out that she couldn't play as a girl in the original Donkey Kong. She was used to playing as Princess Peach in Super Mario Bros. 2, where you can choose to play as Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, or Toad.
So, to make his daughter happy, Mika hacked the ROM of the game and made it so Pauline (known today as Princess Peach) is now the one dodging Donkey Kong's barrels and climbing ladders to rescue Mario. He even replaced the "M" for Mario at the top with a "P" for Pauline.
