Summer League Games for Week Six

 

Elementary Division

 

Semi-final action began with the Dunes winning a very close match over the Guards by a final of 1-0. Emilyn Swope’s first half goal was enough to hold off the Guards throughout the second half of the game. In the second semi-final game the Tides upset the Waves by a final of 5-0. Avary Miller lead the scoring with a hat trick with Shea Danahy and Ellen Ramsey contributing the other goals for the team.

The championship game is Tuesday evening, July 17th on the turf at Cape Henlopen HS starting at 7:15.

 

Senior Division

 

In the opening game of the evening the Corals moved into third place in the league with a 5-2 win over the Artics. Brynn McCabe’s goal had given the Artics the opening half lead but the awoken Corals responded quickly at the star of the second half with goals from Riley Klopp, Maggie Mitchell, Hannah Maney and Emma Westbrook. Westbrook also got her second goal of the game with 2:30 remaining. Noelle Sabbagh scored on a penalty stroke at :46 of the second half for the Artics.

The Baffins defeated the Bengals by a final of 4-2 to earn a spot in the championship game. Avery Congleton got the Baffins the lead at 14:26 of the first half but LeeLee Wilson tied the game at 4:51 for the Bengals. Rylie Cordrey then scored at 9:53 for the Baffins. Cami Smith and Taylor Smith completed the scoring for the Baffins with their goals at 8:07 and 2:56. Lacy Bayley scored on a penalty corner at 1:37 for the Bengals.

The Seahawks and the Pumas battled to a 2-2 result. Julia Hollenbeck got the early lead for the Pumas with a goal at 6:12 but Kylee LaVere answered at 5:08 for the Seahawks. Kayla LaVere then put the Seahawks into a temporary lead with her goal at 8:44 of the second half before Sommer Dorman got the tying goal at 3:20 for the Pumas.

The championship game is on Tuesday, July 17th, on the turf at Cape Henlopen HS starting at 8:00.
