Vulpes Vulpes

This is the red fox who can be seen at Gordons Pond State Park. The Red Fox is very curious and will approach you, not as a danger to you, but because some other human before you broke the golden rule and fed the wildlife.

I made sure when I saw my local park ranger to ask him about this fox.

It may seem cute, the # instagramfox, it might seem ok, especially in winter when food sources for the fox are limited, to give him a hot dog, and for those of us who are not afraid, but some visitors to the park might think differently & I have heard it said more than once, "Thats not normal" "Must be something wrong with him" "Is it sick?"

Well no, the fox is fine, it just made the mistake of not fearing humans. The fox is healthy, he said, do me a favor & when you see him approaching humans, give him a scare, chase him off.

Because if someone gets scared & makes a call to the office, he doesn't want to be called to do the unthinkable.
