Lilacs - an early harbinger of spring. When they bloom you can be pretty sure it's here to stay. And the fragrance? It is so rich, that some whiffs of it smell like a concentrated perfume. Purple lilacs are said to symbolize the first emotions of love. Spring loves us. She really loves us! If you are lucky enough to have access to a lilac bush, get your bypass pruners out and bring a couple sprigs inside; it will cheer your spirits. Be respectful of any bird nests!
