Yesterday was a long day and if someone told me that there was a rainbow at the end of it, I'm not sure I would have planned better for it.
In the morning at a shoot I ran into my physics teacher who didn't remember me, understandable since I was not a stand-out student in his class. By the time sunset was about to happen, I was tired & hungry but I couldn't ignore the cloud shapes and the sun getting perky.
I guess you can plan for a rainbow shoot, but I was really just planning to use the crazy clouds for a sunset. I decided to pop in at Second Beach in Lewes since it is awesome there.
The back sky was nearly black and the sun was getting strong, and usually this means rainbow - and this is the physics part - sunlight enters a raindrop and is broken into different colors heading in slightly different directions. The light is then reflected and magnified off the back of the raindrop and passes back into the air again, in the process being further refracted. (thank you photocentric.net)
