Winter Jam fundraiser for CHEF set Jan. 20

January 14, 2017

The Cape Henlopen Educational Foundation annual Winter Jam fundraiser will be held from 6 to 10 p.m., Friday, Jan. 20, at the Rusty Rudder Restaurant in Dewey Beach. For the third consecutive year, Jack Lingo Realtor is the title sponsor.

Winter Jam raises funds for educational programs for students in the Cape Henlopen School District, including teacher grants for unbudgeted classroom projects, STEM initiatives, Cape Carousel after-school enrichment activities, performing arts scholarships and anti-bullying programs.

"Winter Jam is our largest fundraiser of the year, and we invite the entire community and visitors to the region to join us for a night of delicious food, great dancing, music, as well as exceptional and unique auction items," said CHEF Development Director Alyssa Titus.

"We have over 40 Winter Jam sponsors this year, which is a reflection of the generosity of our local businesses and their desire to support our Cape schools," Titus said. “We are grateful for our Title Sponsor Jack Lingo Realtor, and our major sponsor Dogfish Head Brewery who has committed funds, an amazing auction item, and the liquor and beer for the event. In addition, all of our generous sponsors allow us to make a positive impact on our Cape schools."

Sponsoring restaurants include Jimmy's Grille, Rusty Rudder, Starboard Raw and The Starboard, Nage, Fins Ale House, Nicola Pizza, the Crooked Hammock Brewery, Pilot Town Fish Co. and Matt's Fish Camp, which generously donated their time, food and culinary talents for the evening.

Mike Hines and The Look, a high-energy six-piece dance band, will provide entertainment throughout the evening. This popular group's extensive repertoire includes R&B, Motown classics, hip hop, pop and old-school funk.

Live and silent auction items include a private party at Chesapeake and Maine, a picnic for 25 complete with live entertainment at the new Love Creek Elementary School's open-air theater, overseas trips to Tuscany and Bali, a ski adventure to Whistler Mountain in British Columbia, and much more.

Winter Jam tickets are $35 apiece, and $25 for Cape Henlopen School District staff. To purchase tickets, go to www.chef-cape.org or call 302-381-6111 or go to Cape Henlopen High School, Lewes.

Since 2006, CHEF, a nonprofit 501c3 organization, has raised over $150,000 to help implement innovative programs which spark interest and learning. CHEF and the Cape Henlopen School District are partners in supporting educational excellence and providing opportunities for every student to achieve success in a diverse environment.
