The Delaware Lacrosse Foundation held its annual awards banquet at the University of Delaware's Clayton Hall June 9, and the Cape Henlopen lacrosse teams were presented with numerous awards.
Cape senior Meg Bartley was honored as 2011 first team all-state, all-American and Delaware Lacrosse Girls' Player of the Year. Sophomore Anna Frederick and senior Caroline Judge were given first team all-state honors. Junior Jacki Coveleski and sophomore Sara Young were chosen for second team all-state. Seniors Katie Yeager, Emily Farrell, Caroline Judge and juniors Jacki Coveleski and Erin Ricker were named to the 2011 Academic all-American team.
Girl's coach P.J. Kesmodel earned the girls' 2011 Coach of the Year Award.
Seniors James Cook, Andrew Scrutchfield and Matt Millman were honored as boys' 2011 first team all-state with Cook and Scrutchfield being named 2011 all-Americans. Andre Fonville and Jerome Johnson were honored as third team all-state, and Sammy Mohr was given honorable mention.
Cape boys assistant coach Mark D'Ambrogi was inducted into the Delaware Lacrosse Hall of Fame.

Dan has worked for the Cape Gazette for more than 30 years as a photographer and reporter, covering high school sports and happenings around eastern Sussex County. He won a photography award from the National Newspaper Association, and numerous awards from the Maryland, Delaware, D.C. Press Association. A Delaware native, Dan graduated from Cape in 1972 and returned as a teacher and coach in the 1980s. He retired from the classroom in 2016. He was inducted into Cape High’s Legends Stadium in 2016. In his spare time, Dan enjoys spending time with his wife, two sons, grandchildren and dogs.
