Pet Wants Rehoboth Beach sets grand opening May 13

May 9, 2017

Representatives from the Rehoboth Beach-Dewey Beach Chamber of Commerce welcomed Pet Wants Rehoboth Beach to the chamber with a ribbon cutting. Grand opening festivities are scheduled for 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, May 13. Patrons can enjoy food from Chick-fil-A and earn a chance to win one of four $25 gift certificates. There will also be a photo contest where competitors have a chance to win a $100 gift certificate.

When Chad Miller started giving his dogs Pet Wants food, he saw such a positive impact on their health that he decided he wanted to bring Pet Wants to other families in Rehoboth Beach. The carefully developed proprietary pet food is slow-cooked in small batches with fresh, high-quality ingredients once per month, so every kibble is guaranteed to be fresh and packed with nutrition. Pet Wants Rehoboth Beach is at 146 Rehoboth Ave. in Rehoboth Beach and offers free delivery to Rehoboth Beach, Dewey Beach, Henlopen Acres, Lewes, Milton, Harbeson, Oak Orchard and Millsboro.

In addition to being made fresh monthly, Pet Wants only sources the best salmon, chicken, lamb, brown rice and other ingredients available. There's no sugar added, no fillers and no animal by-products, and Pet Wants never uses corn, wheat, soy or dyes, which makes the food great for animals with allergies. Pet Wants Rehoboth Beach, which offers multiple blends of dog and cat food, also offers healing salve, calming balm, anti-itch spray, paw wax and more.

Miller opened Pet Wants Rehoboth Beach with the support of his wife Amy and their daughter Jerrica. Amy built her career in human resources and recently earned her degree in education with an emphasis on special education; she hopes to start teaching full time. Jerrica, who will be helping at the shop part time, is studying criminal justice at Sussex Tech. The Millers have two golden retrievers, 9-year-old Trix and 10-year-old Hooch.

"Trix has GI issues and Hooch has allergies, so we were looking for a fresh food that could help with the issues our pets faced. When we discovered Pet Wants, we thought we'd try the food with our dogs and, within 60 days, we saw a huge difference. Not only did Pet Wants help with their allergies and GI issues, they had more energy, less shedding and they just seemed happier. Pet Wants really did make a difference," Chad Miller said.

Miller started his career at a retirement facility when he was 14. He earned his bachelor's degree in behavioral science and climbed the ranks before deciding it was time for a change. He moved into retail and business management, and earned degrees in business and entrepreneurship before buying the business where he worked. He left that career behind at the end of 2016 to commit full time to Pet Wants.

"After the great experience we had with the Pet Wants food, we knew we wanted to open our own Pet Wants business. We're looking forward to helping other families give their pets healthier, longer lives," Miller said. "I don't think even the special diet my dogs were on was doing nearly as much for them as Pet Wants. I'm a believer, and I'm looking forward to offering Pet Wants to other people in this community."

Pet Wants originally launched in Cincinnati in 2010. Owned by Michele Hobbs, the business was built to provide proprietary crafted, fresh, slow-cooked, high-quality pet food delivered to customers through a retail store and a convenient home-delivery service. Hobbs, now the company founder, turned the business into a franchise in 2015.
