Elton John Sears, Mountaire retiree
Elton John Sears, 62, departed this life Thursday, July 14, 2001, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center, Salisbury, Md.
The son of the late Annie Marie Walston, he was born Feb. 5,1949.
Elton or "Little Buddy or E.J." he as called by most family members and friends, was educated in the Sussex County school system. Elton was employed with Mountaire Farms for 20 years. He was a member of Missionary Baptist Church in Georgetown.
Elton had a sense of humor even though he was in pain. His grandchildren were his pride and joy. Elton received Christ in 1988, and loved to sing hymns and the gospel of Christ. At one point in Elton's life he painted his vehicles (two that we know of) silver and black. He loved to detail his vehicles.
He leaves to mourn his wife, Norissa Sears of 20 years of Laurel; three daughters, Katherine Harmon (Andre) of Camden, Shenika Joynes of Laurel and Yalisha Nocks (DeMorris) of Georgetown; two sons, Tyveatis Joynes of Georgetown and Jereme Joynes of Laurel; five sisters, Vivian Johnson (James) of Bridgeville, Rosa Lee Ricketts (Bill) of Georgetown, Diane Thomes of New Jersey, Wardell Marie Butler (Derrick) of Dover, and Rose Mae Finney (Patrick) of Laurel; ne brother, Chester Walston (Betty) of Bridgeville; 16 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Viewing will be at Bennie Smith Funeral Home 219 South Washington St. Millsboro, from 6-8 p.m., Friday July 22. The funeral will be at Missionary Baptist Church, Route 9 Georgetown, at noon, Saturday July 23, and family and friends may call one hour prior.
