Dogfish Head Distilling Co. announced the launch of its new bottled cocktails, the result of a pair of hyper-local collaborations. Ginger’s Cold Brew Cocktail and Compelled to Drink Tea by the Sea were the winning libations from its 2017 Sonic Archeology Cocktail Competition. Developed by Ginger Breneman from Fork & Flask, and Hari Cameron, a James Beard-nominated chef and mixologist from a(MUSE.), these limited-edition cocktails are available for purchase at Chesapeake & Maine, the Dogfish Head EmPOURium, Fork & Flask and a(MUSE.).
A blend of strawberry-infused Analog Vodka, dark brewers’ malt and cold brew coffee from The Point in Rehoboth Beach, Ginger’s Cold Brew Cocktail exudes rich flavors of chocolate and coffee, and has the slight fruity sweetness of fresh strawberries. Compelled to Drink Tea by the Sea is a Loomi Tea-inspired punch infused with saffron and rose petals, and melded with black limes, honey and a touch of Delaware sea salt, for an overwhelmingly aromatic and subtly citrusy spirit. Mixologists Breneman and Cameron saw their creations from inception to completion, as they prepared the ingredients and assisted Dogfish Head Lead Distiller Graham Hamblett, in translating their award-winning creations into bottled cocktails at Dogfish Head’s new R&D distillery.
“It was awesome working with Hari and Ginger to bring these innovative and deliciously complex cocktails to life,” said Hamblett. “Collaborating with talented and passionate spirits-lovers is always a treat, and getting to distill and bottles these cocktails in our new R&D distillery made the experience even more special.”
Dogfish Head Distilling Co. will also launch its Rehoboth Distology Experience, an hour-long, hands-on tour of its R&D distillery Saturday, June 30, and Sunday, July 1. Guests will enjoy a glass of Sonic Archeology, the distillery’s prohibition-inspired bottled cocktail, as Dogfish Head Lead Mixologist Rob Bagley guides them on an off-centered journey that includes a behind-the-scenes look at and schooling of Dogfish Head’s R&D distilling and brewing operations in Rehoboth, a sampling of Sonic Archeology’s core ingredients in their rawest forms (rum, whiskey, apple brandy, pomegranate and lemon juices, and honey), and the blending, bottling and labeling of their very own bottles of Sonic Archeology. In addition to their custom-bottled spirits, guests will leave with a Dogfish Head snifter glass and gift box. Tickets are $49 per person (must be 21 or older) and tours are limited to 10 people. Long pants and close toed shoes are required.
