Sussex Gardeners of Rehoboth Beach awarded at state level

At the June 20 meeting of the Delaware Federation of Garden Clubs, Sussex Gardeners of Rehoboth Beach received a number of awards for their 2017-18 projects.

First-place awards were presented to the club for Civic Achievement-Planting for the pollinator garden at Rehoboth Beach Museum; Horticulture/Garden Therapy for projects at Gull House and The Moorings at Lewes; Public Education for the Zwaanendael Museum Tulip Celebration educational display; Publication for their yearbook; and Holiday Special Achievement for handmade nosegays for Meals on Wheels patrons and wreaths for Gull House, Rehoboth Beach Public Library and Delaware State Police.

The club received second-place awards for Holiday Historic Preservation with the Zwaanendael Museum Nautical Yuletide floral arrangements; Publication for the Sussex Gardeners 80th Anniversary book; and Stewards of the Environment for screening the film “Hometown Habitat.”

The club received an honorable mention for its wreath to support Delaware Hospice.
