Thanks for support of Celtic to Classical

August 24, 2018

It was a great joy to bring our Celtic to Classical musical programs to southern Delaware Aug. 7-16. The congregations and leadership of Georgetown Presbyterian, Epworth United Methodist, St. Martha's Episcopal, Avenue United Methodist and the Episcopal Church of St. John the Baptist could not have been more warm and welcoming, as we offered two contrasting musical programs over two weeks (seven evenings of music in all).

Violins, viola, cello, piano, flute, a little percussion, and (in Milton) guitar and voice, brought to life music of Corelli and Dvorak, new original music, Celtic folk music, bluegrass, film music, hymns and even a tango! Our 70-minute concert programs are lively and varied, and aim to please experienced classical listeners, folk listeners, and even people who don't typically attend live concerts of any sort.

Thanks to support from Gary and Betty Grunder and Peter and Joanne Harrigan, we were able to continue with a "pay what you will" model for our concerts in lieu of ticketed admission, allowing anyone to come hear great live music. Also thanks to Cape Gazette Publisher Dennis Forney who was very helpful with coverage leading up to our events.

Attendance and support were the best they've been in our three years, with many audience members following us from concert to concert. As a musician, I am grateful for such engaged and passionate listeners to perform for - they inspire us to play our best.

Our whole 2018 ensemble, violinists Dennis Kim and Alexis Meschter, cellist Jonah Kim, pianist Sean Kennard, pianist/flutist Ya-Jhu Yang, wonderful student vocalists/guitarists Nira Dayanim and NoaSapir Franklin, and myself, offer our profound thanks and eagerly look forward to meeting again in 2019.
