Mug & Spoon will host its first book signing from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 14. Throughout the year, the Rehoboth Beach coffee shop has held a series of small events to highlight local artisans and businesses. This time, the focus is on 19-year-old Abby Snow, the author of “Resubmerged,” a young adult fantasy novel.
Snow is a junior at Salisbury University studying international business and corporate finance. Originally from Columbia, Md., she dreamed of being an author since she was very young, and began writing her first amateur novella at age 12. The initial spark of inspiration for “Resubmerged” came when she was 14, and she worked on the story over the next few years. Last year, she wrote parts of this novel right inside Mug & Spoon.
“Resubmerged” is about a 15-year-old girl named Roslaine Callerie from a realm known as Dunchoria. At age 10, Rose develops a power which she accidentally misuses on the government officials of her realm, and she has to go on the run. Five years later, government agents are closing in, so she joins a secret organization for people like herself, changes her identity, and enrolls in school to blend in. But with boys, high school drama, and growing secrets, Rose finds it hard to stay hidden. She has to constantly remind herself: Watch your step. Hold your breath. Don’t look back.
