Cape JROTC cadets assist Fort Miles volunteers

A group of 14 Cape Henlopen JROTC cadets assembled at Cape Henlopen State Park Feb. 14 to assist the Fort Miles Historical Foundation volunteers with a variety of ongoing renovation projects.

Under the supervision of foundation personnel, cadets performed a number of jobs including painting, cleaning walls, removing rust from old doors, and filling in small trenches with earth. The cadets were informed about the historical significance of the fort during World War II.

Participating cadets were Almita Ramirez, John Distefano, Martin O’Reilly, Robert Marcott, Maurice Sheppard, Clara-Rosa Hertzog, Matthew DeLuca, Sam Kirstetter, Sydney Hollister, Roberto Marin-Landa, Brian Gray, Spencer Grinder, Chris Handlin and Paige Opplinger.
