Shiatsu therapist joins HeartWish Healing Center in Rehoboth

Free community talk set March 12
March 10, 2019

Katherine Braun has joined HeartWish Healing Center in Rehoboth Beach as a Shiatsu practitioner on its healing team. Braun completed her Shiatsu certification (Dipl. ABT from AOBTA) at Zen Shiatsu in Chicago in 2015. There, she learned from mentors who had been practicing Shiatsu for more than 40 years, and participated in two International Shiatsu symposia.

While studying Shiatsu, Braun was an active participant in the healing community in Chicago, where she had a chance to deepen her yoga and meditation practices, receive regular acupuncture and explore energetic healing. Prior to living in Chicago, her path led her to live and study in Chile, the UK and India, as well as teaching in Spain and traveling through all three continents. She holds a double bachelor’s degree in history and sociology from the University of Michigan, as well as a master’s degree in contemporary urbanism from The London School of Economics.

Shiatsu is a form of Japanese massage based on the meridian system developed by traditional Chinese medicine. The shiatsu therapist uses palm, finger, and thumb pressure along meridian pathways (the channels connecting acupoints) to stimulate a healthy flow of qi, or life force energy, to the body/mind system.

Shiatsu is beneficial for alleviating muscle tension, joint pain and acute injury, as well as digestive disturbances, insomnia, menstrual dysfunction and common emotional disturbances such as anxiety and depression. Clients are fully clothed.

At 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 12, Braun will offer a free community talk covering topics such as what Shiatsu is, and how Shiatsu can be beneficial to one’s health. She will also demonstrate meridian stretching and self-care techniques.

Shiatsu sessions may be booked with Braun at www.heartwishmassage.com. For reservations and details, call HeartWish Healing Center at 302-727-5501 or email info@heartwishmassage.com.
