Seating is limited
June 3, 2019

Delaware Hospice will host a Lunch Bunch Talk from 12 to 1:30 p.m., Friday, June 7, at its Milford center. The topic will be Why is it Hard to Leave an Abusive Relationship?

The number of American soldiers killed in Afghanistan and Iraq between 2001 and 2012 was 6,488. The number of American women who were murdered by current or ex male partners during that time was 11,766, nearly double the number of overseas casualties. On average, a woman will leave an abusive relationship seven times before she leaves for good.

People often wonder why those abused don’t just leave a bad relationship. There are lots of psychological, financial and even neurobiological reasons why it is hard to extricate oneself from an abusive connection. Domestic violence is very widespread, and many people will have it touch their lives directly or through someone they love. Learning about this complex problem and how to help those caught in it is essential.

Presented by Dr. Judy Pierson, clinical psychologist, lunch bunch lectures are organized by Delaware Hospice’s family support center and are open to everyone. Seating is limited; early registration is requested. The fee for lunch is $5.

The address is 100 Patriots Way, Milford. For more information, call 302-856-7717.
