Rehoboth Bandstand committee to meet Jan. 15
The Rehoboth Beach Bandstand, Convention Hall, Special Events Committee has scheduled a meeting for 11 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 15, in the commissioners room of city hall, 229 Rehoboth Ave. The agenda calls for a review of convention center bookings and future scheduling. Rehoboth budget workshop set Jan. 17
Rehoboth commissioners have scheduled a special meeting for 10 a.m., Friday, Jan. 17, in the commissioners room of city hall, 229 Rehoboth Ave. The agenda calls for continued discussion of City Manager Sharon Lynn’s draft budget for Fiscal Year 2020-21. Sussex P&Z takes action on projects
At its Jan. 9 meeting, Sussex County Planning and Zoning Commission granted final site-plan approval to Ocean Meadows, a 133-single-family-lot cluster subdivision on the west side of Beaver Dam Road near Lewes.

The commission granted preliminary site-plan approval to Ocean Park, a three-building, 45,000-square-foot office complex at the corner of Plantation Road and Cedar Grove Road between Lewes and Rehoboth Beach.

A final site plan can be reviewed once all county and state agency approvals have been received by the planning and zoning office.

Lewes parks and rec meets Jan. 14
The Lewes Parks and Recreation Commission will meet at 6 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 14, at city hall. The commission is trying to reach a balance of use for tennis, pickleball and basketball for the community and is seeking input from residents and users of the Canalfront Park and courts.  The purpose of the workshop is for the public to review the proposed layout for reconstruction and rehabilitation of the Canalfront Park tennis and basketball courts, and provide comments and suggestions. Special Rehoboth meeting set Jan. 17
Rehoboth commissioners have scheduled a special meeting for 3 p.m., Friday, Jan. 17, in the commissioners room of city hall, 229 Rehoboth Ave. The agenda calls for a discussion on the bid recommendation for construction of Grove Park Canal Access Project. Rehoboth commissioner meeting set Jan. 17
Rehoboth commissioners have scheduled a meeting for 3:15 p.m., Friday, Jan. 17, in the commissioners room of city hall, 229 Rehoboth Ave. The agenda calls for further discussion on changes to the animal code and gross floor area. The agenda also calls for a presentation by the Rehoboth Beach Bandstand, Convention Hall, Special Events Committee on proposed strategy and key investments for the future. Rehoboth issues bid notice for signage
Rehoboth Beach issued a notice for bids related to the Wayfinding and Signage Program project Jan. 8. Sealed bids will be received by the City of Rehoboth Beach, 229 Rehoboth Ave., P.O. Box 1163, Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971, until noon, Feb. 4. Work includes fabrication and installation of custom parking signs, pedestrian signs, gateway signs, and vehicular signs; sign posts, hardware, and support systems; maps and kiosks and other miscellaneous work. Contract documents may be examined at Rehoboth Beach City Hall, 229 Rehoboth Ave.

For $100, hard copies of the contract documents may be obtained from Beacon Engineering LLC, phone 302-864-8825. Checks should be made payable to the Beacon Engineering, LLC.  Electronic copies are available in PDF format at no charge by emailing lhudson@beaconengineeringllc.com. Bidders must obtain and review contract documents to be eligible to submit a bid.

Osprey Point comment period extended to Jan. 27
Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control announced Jan. 12 it had extended public comment on proposed remedial actions at the Osprey Point Subdivision Site located near Rehoboth Beach. Comments will now be taken through 4:30 p.m., Monday, Jan. 27.

The site, once used as a golf course, requires a restriction on future use of groundwater. Details of the proposed plan are available at the DNREC offices located at 391 Lukens Drive, New Castle, and 21309 Berlin Road, Suite 2, Georgetown, or online at www.nav.dnrec.delaware.gov/DEN3. Delaware Bay shellfish grounds available
The Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control’s Division of Fish & Wildlife announced Jan. 12 that shellfish grounds located in Delaware Bay are available for lease. The grounds are south of the East Line and north of the Murderkill River. This notice does not pertain to shellfish aquaculture leasing in Delaware’s Inland Bays.

Upon request, Fish & Wildlife will provide a detailed description of the specific shellfish grounds currently under lease.  Any person wishing to lease areas within the defined boundaries of the shellfish growing area, not already under lease, shall make an application to DNREC prior to Sunday, March 15, on a form provided by Fish & Wildlife. In the event that more than one application is received for the same grounds, the grounds will be leased by competitive sealed bid and above the base fee for the first year.

Lewes planners meet Jan. 15
The Lewes Planning Commission will meet at 6 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 15, at the Rollins Community Center.
The group will consider a waiver request from the developer of Lewes Waterfront Preserve on New Road to permit a dead-end street longer than 200 feet. According to the waiver request, the developer is seeking a 497-foot dead-end street and a 210-foot dead-end street, each ending in a cul-de-sac.

The commission will also entertain a minor subdivision request for 624 Pilottown Road. The applicant is seeking to convey a quarter-acre of land from the Pilottown Road property to the proposed Fishers Cove property. Fishers Cove received a negative recommendation from the planning commission in November, and the issue remains unresolved with mayor and city council.
