James A. Gregg, charismatic man

October 28, 2020

James A. Gregg "Jim" "Jimmy,” 71, of Rehoboth Beach passed away Saturday, Oct. 24, 2020, in the comfort of his daughter’s home and with his children's love surrounding him, peacefully made his way to heaven after confronting cancer with a relentless, tough fight to live out a peaceful life.

He is survived by his loving children, Melissa Gregg, Lindsey Gregg, Geoffrey Gregg and Jamie Gregg; as well as his significant other, Dawn Scioli. He was predeceased by his beautiful parents, Paul L. Gregg and Ethel J. Awstrew (Rae).

He was a military veteran and graduate of Lincoln University, Pa., with a bachelor’s degree in English literature. He was an avid family man. After retiring from a successful career in sales, he spent the majority of his time on the beaches of Rehoboth and Lewes. He was a simple, charismatic man who had a love for sand in his toes and a stellar Jimmy Buffet song. As an extension of his youth, he followed the deep love he had for sports. If there was a Yankees or Cowboys game on, he would not miss it. He spent the majority of his life setting a beautiful example of life for his family. He will be missed beyond measure.

A private service will take place on his birthday, Sunday, Nov. 8, at Longwood Cemetery with his closest loved ones. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
