Sherida Ann Davis, active in community
On Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2022, heaven gained a one-of-a-kind angel.
They say, "When a loved one passes and it rains, they gain their wings." Well, on this day, it snowed heavy, like no other storm, so heaven must have set up a grand entrance for this queen's arrival.
Sherida Ann “Mom Rita” Davis, 54, of Georgetown, was born July 23, 1967, in Lewes, to Catherine Sample and Willie Davis Jr. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and her three sons. They were her world and everything in it, plus more. Sherida was heavily involved in her community of Georgetown and was loved by many, if not all. She was a one-of-a-kind individual, and a special person you'd want to have around you, most of the time. Mom Rita could normally be found at her usual hangouts like the Georgetown hub aka Rita's Hub, or in her travels catching a nice breeze, and taking in the beauty of the world around her.
Her legacy is carried on by her three sons whom she had special nicknames for, Markos A. “Poppi” Davis Sr., Martias A. “Putin” Davis Sr., Myovoni A. “Stinky-Butt” Davis; 11 grandchildren, Adrianna F-M Davis, Selina M. Davis, Martias A. Davis Jr., Maliyah A. Davis, Ava G. Davis, Aubrey A. Davis, Markos A. Davis Jr., Amara I. Davis, Ruby O. Brown, Sarai’ A. Davis, Benson A. Davis; her parents, Catherine Sample and Willie Davis Jr.; siblings, Willie Davis IlI, Tina M. Davis, Deedra Hall, Melinda Davis, Antonio Davis, her favorite Asa Davis; as well as stepbrothers, Rock Hall, Ervin Hall, and Rodney Hall. We can't forget she shared a special bond with the woman who raised her and took care of her the majority of her younger years, Delores Hall; several cousins, her go-to gal Brenda Hall, Brandon Hall, Tina Hall, Kiesha Hall, Brian Hall, Mike Hall, Angela Hall, Doug Hall, Mont Hall, Nip Hall and Albert Hall.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2022, in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 609 E. Market St., Georgetown, where friends may call after 12 p.m. Masks will be required. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Georgetown.
