Students learn tai chi and qigong in Brain Healthy Lifestyle session

Final session of series meets March 15
March 5, 2012

Participants in the second session of the Brain Healthy Lifestyle: A Healthy Balance series held Feb. 23 enjoyed learning about tai chi and qigong from certified instructor Jim Mace.

The series is sponsored by the Sussex Delaware Mental Fitness Partners: The Cordrey Center; University of Delaware Cooperative Extension; Alzheimer’s Association, Delaware Valley Chapter; and the Sussex County Retired and Senior Volunteer Program. The series aims to encourage older residents to keep up good eating habits and to exercise their brains and their bodies in order to maintain a healthy and active lifestyle for many years.

The third session of the series will meet from 1 to 4 p.m., Thursday, March 15, at the Lewes Public Library.  The afternoon will start with an hour on Laughter Is Medicine led by Cheyenne Luzader, MS, coordinator of Integrative Health at Beebe Medical Center and a certified Laughter Yoga leader. A Positive Energy People Panel will conclude the afternoon and the series.

There is no cost for the final session, but preregistration is encouraged. For more information or to register, call 302-856-5815.
