Rehoboth planning meeting canceled
The Rehoboth Beach Planning Commission has canceled its regularly scheduled July meeting due to a lack of agenda items, according to a notice from the city. For more information, contact the city at 302-227-6181 or information@cityofrehoboth.com.
Henlopen Acres meeting set July 8
The quarterly Henlopen Acres commissioner meeting is set for 10 a.m., Friday, July 8, in town hall, 104 Tidewaters. As of press deadline July 4, an agenda had not been posted on the town website. For more information, call 302-227-6411or go to henlopenacres.delaware.gov.
Lewes tree committee set for first meeting
The Lewes Planning Commission has formed a tree ordinance subcommittee that will be meeting for the first time at 2 p.m., Thursday, July 7 at City Hall.
Committee members will discuss the overview of the scope of the subcommittee and the overview of existing codes. More information and a meeting link are available at lewes.civicweb.net.
Cape satellite parking set for Lewes Line
Cape Henlopen High School is now available as a park and ride location along the Lewes Line seven days a week.
The service will run stops to the high school for riders wishing to park their cars at the parking lot during the months of July and August.
In the month of September, the site will only be available on weekends.
Sussex council awards councilmanic grants
Sussex County Council awarded the following councilmanic grants during its June 28 meeting: $5,000 to Town of Georgetown for electric scooters; $1,000 to Eastern Shore AFRAM Festival for expenses; and $5,555 to Harry K Foundation for its Desert Oasis Feeding Program.
Job fair set July 6 at Millsboro Post Office
A job fair will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Wednesday, July 6, at the Millsboro Post Office, 100 Main St., Millsboro, to fill positions there and at other area offices including Frankford, Georgetown, Laurel, Rehoboth, and Seaford.
Applicants should bring two valid forms of identification to the job fair, and fingerprinting will be done on site.
Applications are accepted online only at usps.com/careers.
USPS personnel will be on site to provide details about the positions and answer questions. Applicants must be at least 18 years old and be able to pass drug screening and a criminal background investigation; they must also be available to work weekends and holidays. SDARJ to discuss exhibit July 12
The Southern Delaware Alliance for Racial Justice will explore “Spotlight: The New Milford Museum African American History Exhibit” at its town hall meeting from 7 to 8:30 p.m., Tuesday, July 12, via Zoom.
The new Milford Museum exhibit unveiled April 30 highlights the contributions African Americans have made to Milford’s growth.
“It is time to recognize our shared history would be lost if we did not work to preserve the past and present everyday lives of residents of color from Milford,” said Claudia Leister, Milford Museum executive director.
Speakers will include Charles Hammond, museum board president, and Nicole Rogers, operations manager, among others. Oral histories from some African American longtime Milford residents will round out the program.

DMHOA general meeting set July 25
Delaware Manufactured Home Owners Association will hold a general membership meeting on Zoom and in person at 6:30 p.m., Monday, July 25, at Angola Beach & Estates Clubhouse, 22971 Suburban Blvd., Lewes. The nonprofit entity represents the interests of approximately 50,000 homeowners living in manufactured housing on leased land all over Delaware. DOC announces new SCI warden
The Delaware Department of Correction recently announced the promotion of Kent County Community Corrections Warden Scott Ceresini to serve as warden of Sussex Correctional Institution in Georgetown.
Ceresini, an 18-year DOC veteran, began his career in 2004 as a correctional officer after serving in the U.S. Army for six years.
He has served at Howard R. Young Correctional Institution, James T. Vaughn Correctional Center, Sussex Community Corrections Center and Sussex Boot Camp. In July 2019, he became deputy warden at Baylor Women's Correctional Institution, and in February 2021 was promoted to Kent County Community Corrections warden.
Ceresini succeeds Warden Truman Mears, who retired last month after 33 years of dedicated DOC service.
