Crosswalks crossed off, lots put in park

The crosswalks at Savannah Road and Cedar Street, which were badly faded, have been redone.

The completed project wraps up Phase 25 of the city’s ongoing streets projects.

The Otis Smith Park lot will have to wait before receiving its planned upgrades.

While bids for Schley Avenue came in under budget, landscaping and electrical work pushed the cost of the Smith parking lot repairs above expectations.

Wanting to cut costs in anticipation of a transfer tax shortfall, mayor and city council decided Oct. 10 to defer work on the parking lots and review further changes to this fiscal year’s capital projects.
